Assam-Mizoram border dispute : 4 CRPF teams deployed in sensitive areas

The Ministry of Home Affairs is closely monitoring the violence and clashes between Assam and Mizoram along the border. The Home Ministry has constituted a special team to resolve the situation. The situation is under control at the moment. At the same time, the top officials of both the states are in constant touch in view of the seriousness of the situation. Several officers of the Intelligence Department also reached the border and took stock of the situation. 4 teams of CRPF have been deployed in sensitive areas, while 6 teams have been asked to be on standby. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma visited Silchar to pay tribute to 5 policemen who lost their lives in this violence and also met the injured policemen. At least 5 Assam Police personnel have died after violence broke out in Assam’s Cachar district on Monday. Many people have also been injured in these incidents. State Chief Minister Sharma paid tribute to the policemen who lost their lives. He tweeted that I am deeply saddened to inform that 6 brave jawans of Assam Police have laid down their lives while protecting the constitutional boundary of our state on the Assam-Mizoram border. Condolences are with the bereaved families. In his tweet, the Chief Minister had put the number of policemen dead at six, although the death of five policemen was later confirmed.
