I find more complex roles interesting: Meghna Malik

Actress Meghna Malik, who played the popular character of Ammaji in the TV show Na Aana Is Des Laado and recently appeared in the Hindi biopic Saina, says she wants to do a more complex character.
When asked what kind of roles she is ready to play in the future, Meghna said, “I wish I was in that position to have all the roles that come my way, that I could explore them. I want to create an audience. Laughing and crying at the same time. I’m not just keen on playing simple, linear characters, but more complex roles that interest me.
You don’t always get what you want, says the actress: That’s how it has been and that’s how you make your peace with her. You make your peace with both rejection as well as achievements. Meghna finds the character of Saina Nehwal’s mother Usha Rani very close to her heart in Saina. The film, which released earlier this year, stars Parineeti Chopra in the lead role of an ace badminton player.
She says: Saina is from Haryana and I am also from the same place, so she joins us. Plus, it was really tempting to capture the spirit of a tireless mother. Meghna will be next seen in another biopic on an eminent poet from Haryana, directed by Yashpal Sharma.
She says, like Saina, it is also a very interesting subject, though it does not come in that commercial form. But, I really enjoyed doing it.
