PM Modi congratulates Basavaraj Bommai, praises Yeddyurappa’s contribution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Basavaraj Bommai, who took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, and wished him a good and fruitful tenure. Basavaraj Bommai took oath as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at the Raj Bhavan here. He has replaced BJP stalwart BS Yediyurappa.
The Prime Minister also lauded former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa on the occasion. Modi said words would fall short to describe his immense contribution in the development of Karnataka and strengthening the BJP there. In a tweet, PM Modi said, “Congratulations to Basavaraj Bommai on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. He has vast experience in legislative and administrative work. I hope he will carry forward the extraordinary work done by our government in the state. Congratulations to him on a wonderful and fruitful tenure. In another tweet, the Prime Minister said, words will fall short to describe his immense contribution to the development of Karnataka and strengthening the party there. For decades, he worked hard, toured all parts of Karnataka and built cordial relations with the people. His commitment towards social welfare is appreciated by all. The BJP legislature party in Karnataka on Tuesday evening elected 61-year-old Bommai as its new leader, ending the confusion over the chief minister’s post. Bommai, a leader of the Lingayat community from north Karnataka, is considered close to Yeddyurappa.
