Afghan security forces kill 100 terrorists in 24 hours

At least 100 Taliban militants were killed and about 90 others injured in multiple attacks by Afghan security forces across the country in just 24 hours. In Herat province, security personnel backed by local public insurgency forces responded to terrorist group attacks on the provincial capital Herat city and the neighboring districts of Gujara, Karukh and Seyavoshan, in which 52 Taliban militants were killed and 47 wounded.
Afghan Air Force A-29 warplanes also launched several strikes in support of ground forces.
In addition, 13 Taliban militants were killed and 22 others were killed in air strikes in Herat’s Ghorian district, the Afghan Defense Ministry said on Friday. The statement also said that seven vehicles with arms and ammunition were destroyed during the raid by the security forces.
The army’s 215th Maiwand Corps said in a statement that airstrikes were carried out on Taliban positions on the outskirts of the provincial capital Lashkar Gah in Helmand.
Several Taliban militants were killed and injured during the airstrike, the statement said.
In Kandahar province, 36 militants were killed and 20 wounded after warplanes targeted a group of Taliban in Zahari district, according to the Defense Ministry.
Several Afghan provinces have seen heavy fighting in recent months, as Taliban militants continue their fight against the government.
