Supreme Court takes cognizance of suspicious death of judge in Jharkhand

Answer sought from the state government in a week

The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the suspicious death of a judge in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Surya Kant sought a report from the Chief Secretary and the DGP in a week. The bench said that there have been several incidents of attacks on judicial officers across the country. We will hear on the broader subject of their security. In its order, the Supreme Court has said that there have been several cases of attacks on judicial officers and lawyers inside and outside the court premises recently. In such a situation, there is a need to consider the issues of security of judicial officers. Taking suo motu cognizance of the CCTV footage of the incident going viral, the High Court has sought a response from the state government. The DGP said in the court, SIT has been formed for the investigation. On this, the High Court said, if the investigation is not correct, then the case will be transferred to the CBI.
