On 05th August, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kanyan Anna Yojana, the ambitious free food distribution program at fair price shops will be celebrated in the form of a festival in the entire district. In this regard, DM Markandeya Shahi and Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra prepared a strategy after holding a meeting with senior police and administrative officers and concerned officers in the District Panchayat Auditorium and gave necessary instructions for the successful organization of the program.
District Magistrate Shri Shahi informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, at least one hundred beneficiaries would be invited to each quota shop on the first day and they would be given five kg ration per unit in a government bag free of cost. He clarified that this food grain is being given in addition to the foodgrains available every month under the Food Security Act and under this scheme free ration will be given till the month of November. Whereas under the Food Security Act, the free ration available every month will be available only till August. After this, the ration received under the Food Security Act will be given paid.
For this, nodal and supervisory officers appointed by the District Magistrate will be present at each quota shop. He said that MPs, MLAs and other public representatives would be present at each shop. To make the scheme successful, responsibility has been entrusted to the village head, accountant, panchayat secretary along with the kotedar. He has instructed that every quota shop will be decorated with flowers and garlands and card holders will be invited as guests and ration will be given.
In the meeting, the DM directed that 100 to 150 beneficiaries should be identified for distribution of food grains at each fair price shop and special invitation letters should be sent to them and the beneficiaries would be called one hour before the start of the program. He said that according to the unit free distribution of food grains would be done in bags only. He has given strict instructions to all the officers that cardholders/beneficiaries must be informed that the food grains given to them are free of cost and are being distributed in addition to the routine distribution. Along with this, duly checking of e-pass machines should be done in time and proper machines should be arranged in place of bad machines. Decoration of fair price shop and venue with flowers, standees, flexi boards, balloons, etc., to create a festive atmosphere.
The District Magistrate has directed that food grains will be distributed in Van Tangia villages by senior officers in their presence. Apart from this, with the aim of giving a festive color to the program, the Kotdars can also organize a short over cricket match at the nearest available place and there they can also get food kits to the beneficiaries under the banner of their shop. He said that in the program, the children who performed well in the high school, intermediate examination of the village this time can also be honored by giving inspirational books etc. and the oldest card holder of the village would be honored with angavastra.
He directed that a fair-like event should be organized at the distribution site, in which the availability of balloons, toys, food items etc. related to the interest of the children, sports competitions like cricket, kabaddi, volleyball and traditional games like gilli danda, kite flying (without Chinese majha). etc. can also be organized. Multiple events can be organized at the same time, for which different responsibilities can be given to different teams. The Covid protocol should be followed by distributing masks to each beneficiary and arranging for social-distancing, sanitizer at the venue. He said that every block wise well equipped shops would also be rewarded. For monitoring the entire program, nodal officers will be nominated for each shop including Zonal, Sector Magistrate, who will ensure the distribution of food grains in their presence. Apart from this, the entire program will be monitored live through WhatsApp.
