Shivpal Singh fails to reach final of men’s javelin throw

Indian javelin thrower Shivpal Singh failed to qualify for the men’s javelin throw final due to a disappointing performance in the qualification round. With this, his journey to the Tokyo Olympics also ended.
Shivpal could not even reach the mark of 80 in all his three attempts. His best throw of 76.40 was not enough to qualify. He finished 12th in Group B with throws of 76.40, 74.80 and 74.81m respectively, while javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan was the group topper with best throws of 85.16m.
There is no doubt that Shivpal will also be disappointed with his performance, as his personal best throw is 86.23m, which he set at the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha. Not only this, Shivpal also threw a throw of 85.47 meters to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
It is noteworthy that earlier this morning another Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra entered the men’s javelin throw final by straight qualification with a throw of 86.65m. He will now compete in the final on Saturday.
