Uttar Pradesh : Yogi wrote a letter to the block heads on the development plan

Strengthening the party’s focus on rural areas, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written to the block chiefs (Kshetra Panchayat chiefs) asking them to prepare a detailed action plan to accelerate development at the block level. In a letter sent to all the 825 newly elected block heads, the Chief Minister said that the state government would release a fund of Rs 2500 crore, which could be used for the development of Kshetra Panchayats.
He said that 50 per cent of the funds earmarked for the blocks need to be utilized on solid and liquid waste management.
The Chief Minister further said that the State Government is hopeful that the Block level Government will utilize the financial and human resources. He also underlined the fact that the area is a major unit of the Panchayati Raj system and hence the responsibility of the block head in accelerating the development in rural areas is manifold.
The development has also assumed political significance as the ruling BJP seeks to consolidate its rural footprint ahead of next year’s state assembly elections.
On Saturday, BJP national president JP Nadda had honored newly elected district panchayat presidents and block chiefs. The program was seen as a move to focus on rural voters.
