Uttar Pradesh / Kanpur : Three accused caught on camera attacking Muslim man got bail within 24 hours

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh (UP), three accused arrested for calling ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by thrashing a 45-year-old Muslim rickshaw driver have got bail from the police station. The people of Bajrang Dal staged a massive protest outside the DCP office till night to get the accused released. The family of the rickshaw puller who was beaten is in panic due to this incident. This demonstration was done to get the innocent people freed from beating them openly. A Bajrang Dal worker said, ‘Bajrang Dal assures the Hindu society of Kanpur that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal will not sit still by whomever will attack our religion.’ Those who were being protested for their release are the accused in this case. These accused kept on forcing the Muslim rickshaw officer to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by beating in public. The innocent child of this person kept screaming and pleading to leave her father but her heart did not melt.

There is no allegation against Afsar and there is no FIR against him. His only fault is that he is the brother-in-law of the woman with whom one of his Hindu neighbors had a fight. Before this incident, Bajrang Dal had also held a meeting in the area. Seeing the pictures of Afsar’s beating in the TV, his mother living in the village came to Kannur and mother and son cried a lot. Afsar’s wife told that her daughter was badly affected by her father’s beating on the road like this. Afsar’s wife Rubina says, ‘The girl is in panic. There is panic in her mind. She is not eating or playing at all. She is afraid that we may not kill people.’

There are slums in the kutchi basti of Kanpur, in which Quresha and Rani are neighbors. One day when Quresha’s son came home in an e-rickshaw, his wheel collided with the queen’s door and a fight started with her. On July 12, Quresha wrote an FIR for assault on Rani and her husband. On July 31, Rani got an FIR written against three of Quresha’s boys for molestation. The Quraisha, with whom the queen has quarreled, roams around in small settlements to sell bangles. Due to the quarrel, they have stopped coming out.
