Court adjourns hearing against Gambhir Foundation and AAP MLAs for five months

A Delhi court on Thursday adjourned for five months the hearing in a case related to alleged illegal storage and distribution of COVID-19 drugs by Gautam Gambhir Foundation and two AAP leaders. Metropolitan Magistrate Preetu Raj will hear the case on February 7, 2022.
The Drug Control Department had filed a complaint against Gautam Gambhir Foundation under sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Two separate complaints have also been filed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Praveen Kumar and Imran Hussain. In July, the judge issued summons to all of them and ordered them to appear in court on August 26. The judge said that the complainant is prima facie capable of proving the offence.
The court, in its July 26 order, had said that the prosecution’s case is that Gautam Gambhir and others of the foundation allegedly took Favipiravir tablets and medical oxygen during a medical camp held from April 22, 2021 to May 18, 2021. Stored and distributed. The order said that both AAP leaders Hussain and Kumar were involved in the storage and distribution of medical oxygen from April 25 to May 5 and May 4 to May 19 respectively.
