Telecom subscribers increase by 2.74 crore

Due to the miseries of Corona epidemic, people need to keep in touch with each other, the number of subscribers of telecom has increased by two crore 73 lakh 70 thousand in just three months between January and March this year.

According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) Telecom Service Performance Indicator Report released on Friday, the number of telecom subscribers in the country increased from one billion 17 crore 8 lakh 30 thousand at the end of December 2020 to one billion 20 at the end of March 2021. 12 lakhs, registering a growth of 2.33 percent over the previous quarter. At the same time, this increase was 1.97 percent in the same period last year.

The number of telecom subscribers in urban areas increased from 64 crore 79 lakh 10 thousand at the end of December, 2020 to 66 crore 37 lakh 70 thousand at the end of March 2021. During this, the number of rural telecom subscribers increased from 52 crore 59 lakh 20 thousand. It has increased to 53 crore 74 lakh 20 thousand.

The number of wireless subscribers has increased from 20 lakh 50 thousand to two crore two lakh 40 thousand during the period under review. During this period, a quarterly growth of 0.94 percent has been registered in the number of such subscribers. Similarly, the number of Internet subscribers has increased from 79 crore 51 lakh 80 thousand to 82 crore 53 lakh during the period under review.

Similarly, the number of broadband internet users was 74 crore 74 lakh 10 thousand in December 2020, which increased by 4.11 percent in March this year to 77 crore 80 lakh 90 thousand.
