FC Goa beat Delhi FC 5-1 in the semi-finals of the Durand Cup

FC Goa sealed their place in the semi-finals of the 130th Durand Cup with a stunning 5-1 win against Delhi FC amid uncertainty following the Corona infection case.

Coach Juan Ferrando’s team FC Goa was dominant throughout the match except for the first 10 minutes of the match. All the players played aggressive football and dusted the opponents. In the Durand Cup, Goa’s top scorers Devendra Murgokar and Mohammad Nemil as well as Brandon Fernandes scored the first half of the season thanks to FC Goa. Murgokar, Nemil and Fernandes scored in the 16th, 19th and 45th minutes respectively.
Meanwhile, a goal from substitute player Nikhil Mali in the second half gave Delhi FC hope. He opened the team’s account in the 83rd minute, though FC Goa made a quick comeback. Young footballer Leander de Cunha scored a goal for the team in the 85th minute. After this, winger Alexander Romario Jesuraj finished the match brilliantly by scoring the fifth goal in the extra time of two minutes after the 90 minutes of the match. Delhi FC looked aggressive only in the first 10 minutes of the match and created a goal opportunity but FC Goa goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh made a brilliant defense.

Juan Ferrando’s team FC Goa will now take on the winner of the quarterfinal clash between Bengaluru FC and Army Green here tomorrow in the semi-finals.
