Uttarakhand / Vikasnagar : The demand for installation of railing on the banks of Shakti canal continued
The United Kisan Morcha’s sit-in on the demand for installation of railing along the Shakti canal from Dakpathar to Kulhal continued on Sunday as well. The people who were on the dharna a few days ago paid tribute to the three children in the case of drowning in the canal. On Sunday, Somdutt Sharma, the state president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Tomar faction, gave his support at the Dakpathar sit-in site. He said that the government has become a problem for the farmers as well as the general public. Every section is being exploited under the BJP government. He said that instead of paying attention to the legitimate demands of the people, the government is only looking after the interest of its loved ones. The work of installing railings on the banks of Shakti Nahar is not so big that it becomes difficult for the government to make budget arrangements for this. But this demand has been put before the government by the organization associated with the farmers and the BJP government takes a stubborn stand to accept the demand of the farmers. Said that farmers and common people have not been included in the agenda of the BJP government. He said that if the railing is not installed on the banks of Shakti canal in a week, hunger strike will be started in the MD office of Energy Corporation located in Dehradun. Daulat Kunwar, national convener of India Constitutional Rights Protection Forum, said that door-to-door contact is being made with the traders to make the proposed Bharat Bandh successful on September 27.
