Banks will be closed for 21 days in October, check the complete list of holidays

The month of October is full of festivals and celebrations all over India. Banks will remain closed for a total of 21 days in the month of October including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays in October. In the month of October, there are many occasions like Gandhi Jayanti, Valmiki Jayanti, Navratri, Dussehra, Eid-e-Milad, which will be a holiday in banks. Although banks will be closed for 21 days everywhere in the country in the month of October, it is not so. Some of the holidays/festivals falling in the month are related to a particular state or region. Hence bank holidays may vary from state to state.

The Reserve Bank of India has some guidelines to keep banks closed on all public holidays along with some regional holidays depending on the particular state. Let us tell you, the state governments of the respective states fix regional holidays. Here is the list of bank holidays in the month of October 2021-
October 1: Half yearly closure of bank accounts (Gangtok)
2 October: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (All States)
October 3: Sunday
6 October: Mahalaya Amavasye (Agartala, Bangalore, Kolkata)
7 October: Mera Chauren Hauba of Lanningthou Sanmahi (Imphal)
October 9: Second Saturday

12 October: Durga Puja (Maha Saptami) / (Agartala, Kolkata)
13 October: Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) / (Agartala, Bhubaneshwar, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi)
14 October: Durga Puja / Dussehra (Maha Navami) / Ayu Puja (Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram)
15 October: Durga Puja/Dussehra/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami)/(All banks except Imphal and Shimla)
16 October: Durga Puja (Dasain) / (Gangtok)
October 17: Sunday
18 October: Kati Bihu (Gohati)
