The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand Police has arrested seven accused of online betting during the ongoing match between Bangalore and Mumbai in IPL from a hotel in Mussoorie. 23 mobile phones, a calculator, two pens, 42 thousand cash, four registers of accounting and a TV were recovered from the possession of the accused.

SSP STF Ajay Singh said that all the arrested criminals are residents of Mangalore, Haridwar and Charthawal, Muzaffarnagar. In order to avoid the police, instead of making bets in their hometown, they were making bets online by renting a room in a well-known hotel in Mussoorie Dehradun.
Every day transactions worth lakhs of rupees have been recorded in the recovered registers. The accused told in the arrest that they stay in Mussoorie Hotel and bet only by talking to people on the phone. After winning or losing, whoever has to give or take money, this work is done by our separate boys, whose full account is written in the book register. In the matches held till date, all the transactions of online betting are accounted for in Mangalore Roorkee area, whose recovery and liability are separately accounted by the boys of these bookies in Mangalore Roorkee.

The accused have been identified as Mashroor Akhtar resident of Mohalla Fort Mangalore, Dilshad resident of Pathanpura Mangalore, Naved resident of Mohalla Fort Mangalore, Shahnawaz resident of village Nirdhana Charthaval Muzaffarnagar, Salman resident of Charthawal Qureshra Uttar Pradesh, Shahnawaz resident of Jadauda Muzaffarnagar and Amir Azam resident of Mohalla Malanpura district Haridwar. has happened in
