Company secretaries should think beyond their current responsibilities : Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that company secretaries should think beyond their current responsibilities and partner with ministries and regulators to reduce compliances for tax-paying citizens.

Addressing the program organized on the 53rd Foundation Day of the Company Secretary Institute here, Smt. Sitharaman said that the association of this program with the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is commendable. Praising the Company Secretaries for doing commendable work during Corona, he said that the youth of the country should join this profession as it would emerge as a fast growing field in future.

Finance Secretary TV Somanathan and Corporate Affairs Secretary Rajesh Verma were also present on the occasion. On this occasion, Smt. Sitharaman also inaugurated the campus of the Institute in Australia. This is the company’s fifth overseas campus. It currently has campuses in the US, UAE, UK and Singapore.
