De Villiers on leaving Kohli’s captaincy, said, thank you for all the memories
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman AB de Villiers said on outgoing captain Virat Kohli’s relinquishment of Bangalore captaincy, he taught people to believe in themselves, which is more important than winning the trophy. The loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) marked the end of Kohli’s nine-year stint at RCB.
In a recently posted video via RCB, de Villiers said, “I have been here with Kohli as his captain for years and I think the word that comes to mind is grateful.” We were very lucky to have you leading us.
The way you took charge, it inspired everyone in the team and inspired me to become better as a player and as an individual.
De Villiers said, I know you on the field and off it too. You have taught people to believe in themselves which is more important than winning the trophy.
You did a great job but the story is not over yet. We will not forget what you have done for us. Thanks for all the memories and I think some of the umpires will be able to sleep soundly now, I’m happy for them.
