Uttarakhand : Basic facilities should be ensured to the rehabilitated families : CM
Before 2017 11 families from 2 villages while after 2017 1436 families from 81 villages were rehabilitated
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a program organized on the International Disaster Risk Reduction Day at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, directed the officers to ensure that the rehabilitated families have adequate provision of electricity, water and other basic needs in the resettlement area. The list of the rehabilitated villages which are to be connected by road should be made available to the government soon. Arrangements should be made to meet the basic needs in the rehabilitated villages through convergence with MGNREGA and from various funds under the control of the District Magistrate. Even after this, if there is any problem, then the matter should be brought to the government level. On this occasion, the Chief Minister talked to the people of the rehabilitated villages of eight districts through virtual medium and listened to their problems. The Chief Minister said that efforts would be made to find a proper solution to all the problems.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to conduct continuous survey of villages vulnerable to disaster. After the survey, the list of villages and families which need immediate rehabilitation should also be made available soon. Funds have been given for the resettled families as per the guidelines of the Government of India. All possible efforts are being made by the state government for infrastructure development in the rehabilitated area. The Chief Minister said that arrangements are being made to give an amount of Rs 50,000 from disaster head to those who died due to COVID.
A total of 83 villages and 1447 families were rehabilitated in the state as per the provisions of the Rehabilitation Policy 2011 for the affected villages/families after the natural calamity, for which an amount of Rs.61 crore 02 lakh 35 thousand was provided. Out of which 11 families from 02 villages were rehabilitated before 2017 while 1436 families from 81 villages were rehabilitated after 2017. Under Garhwal division, 279 families from 15 villages of Chamoli district, 205 families from 05 villages of Uttarkashi district, 429 families from 10 villages of Tehri district and 136 families from 10 villages of Rudraprayag district were rehabilitated. Whereas 321 families from 31 villages of Pithoragarh district, 68 families from 09 villages of Bageshwar district, 01 family from 01 village of Nainital district and 08 families from 02 villages of Almora district were displaced under Kumaon division.
On this occasion, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugesan, all the District Magistrates were present through virtual medium.
