Football : Japan beat Australia 2-1 in World Cup qualifiers
Japan beat Australia 2-1 to register their second win in the final round of the Asian World Cup qualifying. With this win, Japan have six points in Group B with two wins and two losses.
Earlier, Japan’s Ao Tanaka scored in the eighth minute to give the team an early lead. Japan then retained this lead till the first half and kept Australia from scoring. However, for Australia, Eddin Hrustic scored in the 70th minute to equalize. But for Japan in the 86th minute, Eijs Behich scored a goal to make the score 2-0.
Australia suffered a defeat as there were no other goals in the stipulated time. The top two teams from each group will qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
