Bangladesh to start T20 World Cup campaign with a match against Scotland
After the end of IPL 2021, now the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is ready to increase the enthusiasm of the fans. The ICC T20 World Cup entertainment will kick off with the first match of Round 1 between Oman and Papua New Guinea here on Sunday.
Bangladesh will begin their ICC T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland in the second round of round one here on Sunday.
Bangladesh are in Group B along with Scotland, Oman and Papua New Guinea in the qualifying round and are the favorites to seal one of the four vacant spots for the Super 12 stage. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is considered to be the favorite team in Group A.
Looking at the history, things have not been in favor of Bangladesh in the T20 tournaments organized by India. They haven’t reached the knockout stage in any tournament, though given their recent performances, they deserve credit and can no longer be called a minor side as it used to be.
It is noteworthy that Bangladesh have won nine T20 Internationals this season, including home T20 series wins against Australia and New Zealand, and this is a testament to their becoming a cricket team. Bangladesh’s impressive performance in the shortest format of cricket has propelled Bangladesh to the sixth position in the ICC T20 rankings, ahead of teams like Australia, West Indies and Afghanistan.
