UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned of imposition of sedition law against those celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the recent T20 match. According to police, five people have been detained for allegedly using abusive words against the Indian cricket team after the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan on Sunday. On Thursday, in a tweet on the official handle of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office, it was said that those celebrating Pakistan’s victory will face sedition.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the UP Police said, “After the T20 World Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan on October 24, some anti-social elements disturbed the peace by making anti-national remarks against the Indian team by using derogatory words against the Indian team. Has been. It was told in the same tweet that so far seven persons have been nominated in this context by registering five cases in Agra, Bareilly, Badaun and Sitapur. Five of them have been taken into custody. These cases are being investigated and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence. Meanwhile, a young man from Badaun has been arrested by the police after registering a sedition case against him for celebrating Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup and putting up Pakistan’s flag on his Facebook page.

Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police Dr OP Singh said on Thursday that Niyaz, a resident of Faizganj Behta, posted the flag of Pakistan on his Facebook page and wrote some slogans in favor of Pakistan. According to Singh, on Tuesday, a case was registered against Niaz under sedition and IT Act at Faizganj police station and he was arrested on Wednesday. It is noteworthy that the incident of celebrating the victory of Pakistan had spread displeasure among the people and Hindu Jagran Manch activist Puneet Shakya had filed a complaint against Niaz in the police station.
