Ministry of Civil Aviation organizes Seminar on Vigilance Awareness

Ministry of Civil Aviation organized a Seminar on Vigilance Awareness at Indian Aviation Academy, here today. The Seminar on the theme ‘Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity; स्वतंत्रभारत @ 75: सत्यनिष्ठासेआत्मनिर्भरता’, given by the Central Vigilance Commission was a part of the Series of Events organized by the of Civil Aviation to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava. The purpose of the Seminar was to generate awareness about the ill-effects of corruption and strategize ways to eliminate corruption from public life.

Addressing the audience as Chief Guest, General (Retd.) Dr. V.K. Singh, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Roads Transport & Highways, expressed confidence that the deliberations consequential to the Seminar would further strengthen our resolve to eradicate corruption and help build a New India.

Secretary – Civil Aviation, Shri Rajiv Bansal informed the gathering about the on-going processes in improving the systems and for bringing out SoPs to plug the scope of corrupt practices. He informed that Ministry has launched eGCA and eBCAS platforms where all functions, operational processes are being brought on computerized management command in Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security(BCAS)respectively where public interaction is maximum.

Special Guest from CVC, Shri Sudhir Kumar, Addl. Secretary informed the gathering about several initiatives taken by CVC to eliminate corruption. He further informed about the provisions under PIDPI (Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informer Resolution, 2004) and how this has been instrumental & hugely effective in bringing down the scale of corruption since inception. Joint Director-CBI, Shri Pankaj Srivastava shared his experiences of fighting the menace of corruption in public life.

 

A book titled “Compendium on Systematic Improvements” was launched during the event. The book is a compilation of case studies based on thorough investigations by Vigilance Division of the Ministry and its associate organizations and suggests systematic improvements.

The Seminar was attended by a large number of senior officers and Heads of Organizations from Ministry of Civil Aviation, its attached and subordinate offices including Public Sector Undertakings: Airport Authority of India, Air India and Pawan Hans Limited.

Uttarakhand / Dehradun: A heart wrenching incident has come to light from Vikasnagar in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Where a young man killed his own mother and fled from the spot. Actually this incident is of 3rd August. Where Herbertpur police got information about a fire in a house in Rambagh area. When the police reached the spot, they found the burnt body of an old woman inside. The owner of the house, Sanjay Singh Rana, identified the body as his wife Suresho Devi alias Vandana Rana. Earlier it seemed that the woman died due to burning in the fire but the investigation revealed the case of murder. In such a situation, today the police has arrested him. Murdered mother when he did not get money for drugs The next day of the incident, the husband of the deceased, Sanjay Singh, while giving a complaint to the police, told that his son Manmohan Singh used to live with his mother. He was addicted to drugs and often used to demand money from his mother. There used to be a lot of quarrel between the two when the mother refused. The father told that Manmohan was missing from home since the incident. After which, he expressed doubt that maybe his son had committed the murder and set the room on fire. The police already suspected the son The police immediately registered a case against the son and started investigation. After which, on the night of 14 August, the police arrested Manmohan Singh from Kulhal area. During interrogation, Manmohan Singh confessed his crime. He told that he has been addicted to drugs for a long time. He has already gone to jail in drug smuggling and Arms Act cases. On the day of the incident, he had asked his mother for money for drugs. But his mother refused to give him money and also did not let him go out of the house. He fled with the money after the murder After which, Manmohan Singh, in anger, attacked his mother’s neck with a wooden stick kept in the house. Due to which she died on the spot. After the murder, Manmohan Singh wrapped the body in a mattress and set it on fire so that it appeared that the woman died due to burning. Manmohan fled on a motorcycle with 30 thousand rupees kept in the cupboard of the house and his clothes.
