Nitish Kumar has given a befitting reply to his opponents in Bihar. Nitish’s party JDU has won the by-elections in both the seats of Bihar. JD(U) has registered this victory by defeating RJD candidates in Darbhanga’s Kusheshwarsthan and Munger’s Tarapur seat. The election had become a question of prestige for Nitish with Lalu Yadav coming to Bihar and campaigning just before the election. JDU has won Kusheshwarsthan seat by more than 12 thousand votes. This is twice as much as last time. In the 2020 elections, JDU had won by six thousand votes. Tarapur seat is won by JD(U) by nearly 4000 votes.
In Tarapur, JDU candidate Rajiv Kumar Singh got 78 thousand 966 votes and RJD candidate Arun Kumar got 75 thousand 145 votes. In Kusheshwarsthan, Aman Bhushan Hazari of JD(U) got 59 Thousand 882 votes and Ganesh Bharti of RJD got 47 Thousand 184 votes. With this victory of JDU, it has become clear that the trust of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is maintained among the people. He has the support of the public.
At the same time, the good thing for RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was that he gave a tough fight in both the seats. In the by-election, both the parties put in full force to win. All the NDA leaders including the Chief Minister, JDU National President Lalan Singh and Union Minister RCP Singh were engaged in the campaign. At the same time, RJD chief Lalu Prasad came to Bihar from Delhi with the permission of doctors even in the event of illness and campaigned. He also made aggressive and emotional statements.
JDU had captured both the seats in 2020
JDU had captured both the seats in the 2020 elections, but the by-elections had to be held due to the untimely demise of both the MLAs. In Tarapur 2020, JD(U) candidate Mevalal Choudhary got 64 thousand 468 votes and defeated Divyaprakash of RJD by more than 7 thousand votes. RJD candidate got 57 thousand 243 votes. JDU had won in Tarapur in 2010, 2015 and 2020. In Kusheshwarsthan, in 2020, Shashibhushan Hazari of JDU defeated Ashok Kumar of Congress by more than seven thousand votes by bringing 53 thousand 980 votes. Congress got 46 thousand 758 votes then. This seat was also won by JDU in 2015.
JDU’s figure of 45 remains in the assembly
JDU had won 43 seats in the 2020 elections. After this, Chainpur MLA Jama Khan from BSP and Matihani MLA Raj Kumar Singh from LJP joined JDU. In this way, JDU has 45 MLAs. Two JDU MLAs died. After this, the number of JDU MLAs came down from 45 to 43 again. Meanwhile, with the victory in both the above seats, JDU again has 45 MLAs. Chakai’s independent candidate Sumit Kumar Singh has support for JD(U) and is also a minister in the government.
