Britain is the first country in the world to approve the drug ‘Merck’ to prevent corona
Britain on Thursday gave its approval to the drug manufacturer Merck’s anti-corona drug. With this, Britain became the first country in the world to recognize this drug. The drug has been jointly developed by Merck & Co Inc. of America and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has suggested the use of this drug molnupiravir that it can be given to patients for the treatment of mild and severe infections.
The agency says that this medicine should be started as soon as the results of the Kovid-19 test report are positive. There will be a meeting of US consultants on November 30 to consider this drug. In this, the safety and effectiveness of the drug will be reviewed. In Britain, this drug has been brought under the name of Lagevrio.
Last month, Merck sought accreditation from the US drug regulator FDA for the anti-Kovid-19 drug. After getting approval from the FDA, this will be the first drug to prevent corona. The treatments that the FDA has approved so far against corona infection require injections. “With its good results, we are optimistic that molanupiravir could become an important drug as part of the global effort to fight the coronavirus pandemic,” Merck CEO President Robert M Davis said last month.
Singapore and the US have decided to implement strict rules for the prevention of Kovid.
Phase III trials of the drug were conducted at more than 170 sites in countries including the US, Brazil, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Taiwan and Guatemala. Molnupiravir has also been shown to be active in several preclinical models of SARS-CoV-2. Including prophylaxis, treatment and prevention of transmission.
