In Kolkata, petrol and diesel are available for Rs 89.79 for 104.67. At the same time, the price of petrol in Bangalore is Rs 100.58 per liter. Also, the price of diesel is Rs 85.01 per liter. Petrol is being sold at Rs 107.23 per liter and diesel at Rs 90.87 per liter in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.

It is worth noting that before Diwali (November 3), the central government had given a big relief to the public regarding the rising prices of petrol and diesel. The government had directly cut excise duty by Rs 5 on petrol and Rs 10 on diesel. After this decision of the central government, all the NDA ruled states including Madhya Pradesh, UP, Bihar, Tripura had also cut their VAT prices, due to which the prices of oil were reduced. However, most of the non-BJP ruled states did not cut VAT, due to which BJP leaders had spoken against those parties and leaders. At the same time, Punjab had reduced VAT on petrol and diesel, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had assured to cut the prices.
