NASA’s great experiment to save the earth from the sky disaster
NASA scientists are preparing to test a technology from a spacecraft that can prevent a dangerous meteor or asteroid from hitting Earth in the future.
The name of this mission of NASA is ‘Dart Mission’, on the basis of which it will evaluate the long-running proposal to disable a large space rock coming towards Earth.
This spacecraft will collide with a celestial body or object called Dimorphos. NASA scientists are trying to see how much the speed and path of Dimorphos can be changed.
The importance of the work that scientists are trying to do can be gauged from the fact that if a part of cosmic debris (cosmic debris) of a few hundred meters hits the Earth, it can cause havoc on an entire continent.
However, there is no threat to the Earth from the demophores. This is the first attempt to learn how to deal with such dangers coming towards the earth in future, that is, if tomorrow such a body or debris comes towards the earth, how can it be kept away.
Kelly Fast of NASA’s Planetary Defense Coordination Office said, “Dart is just trying to make a small change in the orbit period of Dimorphos. And that’s really all it takes to stop an asteroid coming toward us in the future.” .
On Wednesday, a Falcon 9 rocket will send the Dart spacecraft into space from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
Asteroids or meteorites are the remaining fragments of the Solar System, most of which do not pose any threat to Earth. But when such a rock revolves around the Sun and moves towards the Earth, then there can be a possibility of collision.
