PM Modi’s meeting regarding COVID-19, concern increased due to new strain of Corona Omicron

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an important meeting on Saturday to review the latest status of Kovid-19 in the country and the ongoing vaccination campaign, amid the detection of a new form of corona virus in South Africa and the worldwide apprehensions about it.

An official said, “In view of the situation of COVID-19 and vaccination campaign, the Prime Minister will hold an important meeting with top officials at 10.30 am today.”

Amidst all this, the arrival of a new form of COVID-19 in South Africa has raised concerns of many countries and they have started taking preventive measures. A committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) has named this new form of corona virus ‘Omicron’ and termed it as a ‘highly contagious worrisome form’.

After the appearance of this new form of corona virus, the European Union along with America, Britain, Canada, Russia and many other countries have banned the movement of people from African countries.

The recovery rate is also increasing in the country. The recovery rate has increased to 98.34 percent. This is the highest since March 2020. At the same time, the active cases in the country are now less than one percent of the total cases. Currently, 0.31 percent of the total cases in the country are active cases. This is the lowest in the country after March 2020.
