He was speaking at the first Democracy Summit. This Global Conference on Democracy is being initiated on the initiative of US President Joe Biden, in which more than 100 countries are participating.

Democracy is strong in India and will remain so: Modi

On the second and last day of the conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that during 75 years, India has strengthened democracy at every level. Referring to his past heritage, he said that its foundation rests on democracy and this democracy has become a part of our civilization in the history of thousands of years, has been rooted in the people. He said that democracy has been strong in India in the past as well, it is strong today and will remain strong in future also. He said that such conferences will help in strengthening democracy at the global level. He said that India is ready to extend its cooperation to the world in making the electoral system more democratic-transparent.

Biden said democracy has weakened in the last 10 years

On the first day, the US President, in his important message on democracy, said that in the last 10 years, democracy has weakened in all the democratic countries of the world. In his address, he stressed on stopping autocratic rule and re-strengthening of democracy to protect the interests of the people.

He appealed to all like-minded democratic forces to unite and give a collective message to the world that all things can be cured only through democracy. He said that democracy is the first and foremost condition for people to have freedom of speech, religious freedom and there is no discrimination at any level.

Pakistan did not join at the last minute

Pakistan did not attend the first World Democracy Conference at the last minute. However, the US had also invited Pakistan to this conference. Apart from India, Pakistan, the US had invited Nepal and Maldives from South Asia. The US did not invite both Russia and China for this conference. America has tension with these two countries. When America also invited Taiwan to this conference. This infuriated China even more.

It is believed that under the pressure of China, Pakistan has refused to attend this conference at the last minute. However, the US has not yet reacted to Pakistan’s refusal. Overall, after this conference, there can be a sharp uptick in global politics in the coming days.
