Corona’s new variant Omicron arrived in Uttarakhand? Delta plus confirm in samples

Has Omicron, the new variant of Corona, knocked in Uttarakhand? The report of the second batch of genome sequencing has also arrived at Doon Medical College. The new variant has not been confirmed in this. However, it is a matter of concern that Delta and Delta Plus variants have been found in all the samples. Doon Medical College’s Principal Dr. Ashutosh Sayana told that the genome sequencing was done in the Virology Lab under the leadership of Principal Investigator Dr. Shekhar Pal, Assistant Professor Dr. Sunil Kumar Dahiya. After the report of 18 samples in the first batch, now the report of 80 samples of the second batch has come. No new variant of Corona was found in this, but there is still a need to be alert. In the second batch, there were 35 samples from Nainital, one from Haridwar, two from Tehri, five from Almora and 37 from Dehradun.
Samples of eight IFS were also included
Genome sequencing of their samples was also done after IFS returned from training from Lucknow and Delhi were found infected. In the report of samples of eight IFS, only old variants have been found. Its report has been given to the IDSP and the institute.
Districts are skimping in sending samples
Genome sequencing is currently being done in Doon Medical College itself. But, it is being skimped in sending samples from the districts. Principal Dr. Ashutosh Sayana said that a reminder has been sent to the labs of all the districts. He told that not a single sample has come from AIIMS Rishikesh.
Process takes four days
Dr. Shekhar Pal, Principal Investigator, VRDL Lab of Doon Medical College and Dr. Sunil Dahiya, Assistant Professor, said that a genome sequencing process takes four days. This is the profile of a virus. The information about what a virus is like, what it looks like, is available from the genome itself. This huge group of viruses is called genome. The method of knowing about a virus is called genome sequencing. It is only from this that information is received about the new strain of Corona. 20 or 80 samples are tested with a chip.
