We are all aware of how cybercrime is increasing. Many cases of online fraud related to the common man keep coming to the fore every day, but it is surprising when a big celebrity becomes a victim of such an incident. We are saying this because the name of the country’s famous cricketer has come to the fore in a recent case of online fraud.

Actually, this time, former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has become a victim of an online fraud. In several fraud transactions done on December 3, Rs 1.14 lakh was cheated from Kambli.

The fraudsters made Kambli such a victim

The cyber fraudsters claimed to be executives of a private bank and asked Kambli to share their KYC details. They were told that if they did not share the details, their account would be deactivated. Not only this, the cyber criminals managed to intimidate him and before he could understand anything, they made him download AnyDesk software to update the KYC, through which the fraudsters were able to manage Kambli’s system. And they were cheated of Rs.

Did Kambli get the money back or not?

The Times of India reported in its report that as soon as Kambli came to know that these calls were fake, he immediately contacted his CA and bank officials. Bandra Police in Mumbai, with the help of cyber police teams and the private bank where Kambli has a bank account, managed to take action and on December 7 registered a case under section 420 (cheating) of the IPC and provisions of the Information Technology Act. . Efforts returned the money to Kambli’s account which was debited in the fraud incident.

The former cricketer was lucky to get his money back but it is not necessary that you are also lucky. Here we are telling you what you should keep in mind while handling online banking.

If you use online banking, then keep these things in mind:

– Never share your sensitive KYC information like phone numbers, messages or any email.

– Password, Username and OTP are for your own use only to ensure security. Never share them with anyone.

– Be more alert if any suspicious links are found. Because the bank never sends any link to update your KYC.

– If you are opening any link then also check the URL thoroughly to see if there is any difference in the normal official link of the bank.

– Avoid downloading any secondary app that promises to help you complete your KYC. Even there are many clone apps for banks, beware of them too.
