33 cases of Omicron in the country, Second case of Omicron in Delhi, 3 year old girl infected in Maharashtra; Section 144 imposed in Mumbai

A new case of Omicron was found in Delhi on Saturday. With this, the number of patients infected with the new variant of corona in the country has increased to 33. Here, Omicron infection was found in 7 new people in Maharashtra on Friday. Of these, 3 are from Mumbai. At the same time, 4 new Omicrons have been found infected in Pimpri Chinchwad district adjoining Pune. Omicron infection has also been found in a 3-year-old girl here.
It has been learned about the girl that she had come in contact with an Omicron infected woman from Nigeria. At present, the condition of the child is normal and she has minor symptoms. The girl, along with her mother and some other infected family members, has been kept in the special covid ward of Jijamata Hospital in Pimpri Chinchwad. Earlier, 6 people of the same family were infected with Omicron. In which the woman’s brother and her two daughters were involved. Genome sequencing of 22 corona infected patients who came in contact with the woman was done. Its report came out on Friday evening.
Number of patients increased to 17 in Maharashtra
Maharashtra has the highest number of ‘Omicron’ infected patients in the country. Now the number of ‘Omicron’ infected in the state has increased to 17. Genome sequencing reports of more than 30 suspected patients are yet to come. In view of the increasing risk of infection in Mumbai, Section 144 has been imposed for the next two days.
Section 144 in Mumbai for two days
In view of the increasing threat of ‘Omicron’ in Mumbai, 144 have been imposed in the entire city on Saturday and Sunday. During this time there will be a ban on large gatherings, rallies and protest marches. The order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) will start from Saturday and continue till 6 am on Monday.
A patient was also found in Dharavi, Mumbai
Three new patients found from Mumbai on Friday came from Tanzania, UK and Nairobi in South Africa. These are men aged 48, 25 and 37, respectively. With this, the number of Omicron patients in Mumbai has increased to 5. The most worrying thing about ‘Omicron’ is that among the new infected, a person living in Asia’s largest slum i.e. Dharavi is also included. This 48-year-old man is the Maulana of the mosque and had come here from Tanzania. According to the information, it did not take any dose of the vaccine.
4 of the newly infected had taken both doses of the vaccine
Out of 7 new patients found in Maharashtra, 4 have taken both doses of corona vaccine. A patient has received a single dose of the corona virus vaccine, while a patient has not been vaccinated. Of the new patients, 4 have no symptoms, while the other 3 have only mild symptoms.
According to the Health Department, 61,439 international passengers have arrived in the state from Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports since December 1. Of these, 9,678 came from ‘at-risk’ countries.
Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai amid the growing threat of Omicron
- The purpose of section 144 is to prevent many people from gathering at one place. The government enforces it when there is a danger due to crowd gathering.
- This section cannot be imposed for more than 2 months at a time. If the state government wants, it can extend it beyond two months.
- This is a section of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC). Where it is imposed, five or more people cannot gather together in that area.
- Its period cannot be extended beyond six months. Violation of the restrictions under this section can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years.
- The collector of the area issues a notification to enforce the section. Under this, Internet services can also be stopped or limited.
- Curfew is more strict than Section-144. In the curfew, people are instructed to stay in their homes within the stipulated time.
- If there is a riot-like situation, then there is a ban on carrying weapons in that area. Police deployment is increased in the city.
- Markets, traffic, schools, colleges are closed and city borders are sealed in curfew. Only essential services remain operational.
