After winning the first Ashes Test as captain, Pat Cummins said – I am proud of my team

After winning the first Ashes Test against England by 9 wickets in the first Ashes Test at the Gabba, captain Pat Cummins said that he is proud of all the players in the team. He felt that from the toss to the result of the match, a lot of things went in favor of the team. Cummins’ first match as Australia’s Test captain was memorable, taking his first five-wicket haul against England in the innings.
Cummins said of the match, “I really enjoyed the match. I am proud of my team. The team did really well. The bowlers did well on the first day. After that Marnus and Warner made a great partnership in the batting order and the way Travis played the match was brilliant. I am happy that every player has performed in the team whether it is bowling or batting.
Cummins praised Travis, saying “he played a stormy knock and scored 152 runs, which won him the player of the match award. That’s why we want him in the team, he changes the course of the game in a matter of hours, we’ve seen him do it for South Australia. He averages 45 now, he is still a young player, he has played first-class cricket as well and is expected to be in the same form.
Cummins praised fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, saying, “He bowled just eight overs on the third day, but when he came back to bowl on the fourth day, he took the wicket of England batsman Jos Buttler who was close to his century. He didn’t take many wickets but he bowled brilliantly.”
