Helicopter crash accident happened on 8th December

An Air Force helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8, killing Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others. The Group Captain was the only survivor of the accident, while all others had died. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other army personnel died in this helicopter crash on Wednesday. On the other hand, Varun Singh was seriously injured.

He was awarded on 15 August 2021 for his indomitable courage to handle his aircraft after being hit by a major technical fault during a flight last year. was awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind. He had safely landed his Tejas fighter from a height of 10,000 feet despite the mid-air emergency.
