Shocking statement of Virat Kohli, former selector raised questions on the functioning of BCCI

Former Indian team selector Sarandeep Singh believes that Virat Kohli was removed from the ODI captaincy in a very un-professional manner. This whole process could have been handled very well. He made it clear that the decision to remove Virat from the ODI captaincy is entirely with the selection committee. BCCI should not play any role in this.

Virat Kohli told today that he was never stopped from doing so while leaving the T20I captaincy. The members of the selection committee had termed it as a positive step keeping in view the future. Virat says that just 90 minutes before the selection committee meeting, he was informed about his removal from the ODI captaincy. From the announcement of leaving the T20 captaincy to the New Zealand series, nothing was said about his removal from the ODI captaincy.

During a conversation with news agency ANI, Sarandeep Singh said, “It is the responsibility of the selection committee to select the cricketers. It is also the responsibility of the selection committee to appoint the captain. BCCI should not have any role in the selection process. The statement given by Virat Kohli during the press conference today is quite surprising. The way things have happened, they shouldn’t have happened.”

The former selector said, “Personally, I believe that there should not be two captains in white ball cricket. These things should have been handled more professionally. Virat Kohli should have been informed in advance that he is being removed from the ODI captaincy. I just want everything to be resolved. Indian cricket should not be harmed by such things.
