Delhi : Delay in NEET-PG counseling, then doctors and police face to face

Protesting doctors and Delhi Police have come face-to-face in Delhi against the delay in NEET-PG counseling. Doctors are trying to take out a march from Delhi’s Safdarganj Hospital, but Delhi Police closed all the gates. Resident doctors of all medical colleges of Delhi were called to Safdarjung Hospital. The doctors were about to take out the Supreme Court march from Safdarganj. The hearing of this matter is going on in the Supreme Court. Counseling for admission is closed since last one year. Let me tell you, there was a clash with the police on Monday. This commotion continued on the road till late night. In protest against this, once again the doctors had called a march on Tuesday.
In Monday’s clash, both sides claim that many people on their side have been injured. Intensifying their agitation, resident doctors on Monday symbolically ‘returned their lab coats’ and marched on the streets.

Delhi Police’s ACP PS Yadav said, ‘We did not coerce any doctor yesterday. They had an illegal gathering, due to which they were detained. These people forcibly blocked the road, later everyone was released. We have not filed any case against the doctors. Even today we will not let them go out of Safdarjung. There is enough police force, we will stop them right here on the campus.
The treatment of patients has been affected in three centrally run hospitals – Safdarjung, RML and Lady Hardinge Hospitals as well as some hospitals of the Delhi government as the doctors’ agitation continued. Federation of Resident Doctors Association has been protesting for the past several days.
