Punjab : Youth arrested trying to run away with Guru Granth Sahib

Incidents of sacrilege in Punjab are not taking its name to stop. Now in Muktsar district, a youth has been accused of trying to run away with Guru Granth Sahib. The incident took place in Malout district. The incident which took place at a gurudwara located in Enakhera village of Malout sub-division is being investigated. It is being told that the Gurudwara management initially tried to hide the matter, but when the local people started gathering near the Gurudwara during the night to protest against the incident, the management informed the police.

Baba Bhidi Chand Grudwara is built in two rooms and it was open only a few days ago. This Gurdwara does not come under the control of SGPC and there are no CCTV cameras installed here. Gurdwara Granthi Gurusevak Singh alleges that 20-year-old Arshdeep Singh came here at around 9 am on Monday. Arshdeep Singh is the son of a founding member of the Gurudwara itself. It is alleged that Arshdeep Singh disrespected the weapons kept there before bringing the Guru Granth Sahib kept in the gurdwara in the open.

I was in another room and saved the Guru Granth Sahib from him when I saw him, says Gurusevak Singh. However, the father of the accused youth claims that his son’s mental condition is not well and he had once tried to kill himself. But now the people of the village are demanding an inquiry in this matter. People here say that they suspect that Arshdeep Singh is mentally ill.

Malout DSP Jaspal Singh Dhillon says, “The incident took place in a gurdwara located in Enkheda village. We have been informed about this incident after about 12 hours. We have arrested the accused youth and investigation has been started in the matter. It is being said that the young man is mentally ill. Further investigation is on. ,

Let us tell you that recently a youth was murdered at a gurudwara in Nizampur village on the alleged allegation of disrespecting the Nishan Sahib (Sikh religious flag). Three policemen, including an SHO, were injured in the entire incident. Earlier, a man from Uttar Pradesh, who had allegedly attempted sabotage at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, was thrashed by an angry mob, after which he died. .
