Punjab : Big decision of Channi government – Punjab DGP removed before announcement of election dates

Before the announcement of the election date in Punjab (punjab assembly election 2022), the Channi government has taken a big decision. Punjab DGP (Director General of Police) Siddharth Chattopadhyay (ips siddharth chattopadhyay) has been removed. In his place, IPS VK Bhawra (vk bhawra ips) has been appointed as the new DGP of the state. This decision has been taken just a few hours before the election code of conduct is imposed in Punjab.
The Punjab government had sent the names of IPS officers to the UPSC panel. Out of these, 1987 batch IPS officer VK Bhavra has been appointed as the new DGP. Earlier he had also worked as Vigilance Chief.
After Captain Amarinder Singh stepped down as Punjab Chief Minister, his close aide and then DGP Dinkar Gupta had gone on leave. After which IPS Sahota was given additional charge. But IPS Siddharth Chattopadhyay, a close aide of Congress party’s state president Navjot Singh Sidhu, was given additional charge to the DGP.
