He told that the Prime Minister will hold a meeting at 4.30 pm today to review the latest situation of COVID -19. Key officials of ICMR and Ministry of Health will be present in this meeting. PM Modi will decide the blueprint of the strategy ahead with him.

Increasing strictness in the states

Keep in mind that amidst increasing cases of corona, strict precautionary measures are being taken in the states. While various state governments have issued orders to close schools-colleges, cinemas, restaurants, etc., the central government is also issuing new guidelines. According to Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, the fifth wave of corona has arrived. At the same time, again worrying situation is being created in Maharashtra. This is the reason that first night curfew and now weekend curfew has been implemented in Delhi. At the same time, the Maharashtra government has also taken many tough steps. The highest number of cases of the new variant Omicron have been reported from Maharashtra itself.

Today 552 cases of Omicron

However, according to the Union Health Ministry, after the arrival of 552 new cases of infection from the new variant Omicron of COVID -19, the total number of infected patients in the country has increased to 3,623 on Sunday. Maharashtra had the highest number of 1,009 cases of Omicron. After this, 513 cases were reported in Delhi, 441 in Karnataka, 373 in Rajasthan, 333 in Kerala and 204 in Gujarat. Earlier on May 29 last year, 1,65,553 cases of infection were reported in the country.

After seven months, about 1.60 lakh corona cases

Due to the high speed corona, the daily corona case in the country has broken the record of the last seven months. According to the latest figures of the ministry at 8 am, 1,59,632 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in the last 24 hours, which is the highest daily cases reported in the last 224 days. The number of patients under treatment in the country has increased to 5,90,611, which is the highest in about 197 days. After the death of 327 people in the country in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,83,790. Out of 3,623 cases of Omicron, 1,409 people have either migrated out of the country or have recovered.
