Delhi : IED explosive found from unclaimed bag in Ghazipur flower market, NSG deactivates

There was a stir in Delhi’s Ghazipur Phool Mandi on Friday morning after the information of an unclaimed bag being found. As soon as the information was received, police, anti-bomb squad and several fire tenders reached the spot. On investigation, the police found the IED explosive from the bag. In view of the seriousness of the matter, senior officers of NSG and Special Cell of Delhi Police also reached the spot.
NSG deactivates explosives
The NSG planned to dig a deep pit to deactivate the IED considering the quantity of it. After this JCB was called to the spot and the bomb was defused by digging a deep pit.
Delhi Police has informed that the Special Cell is investigating the matter and a case has also been registered under the Explosil Act. After deactivating the bomb, the NSG has informed that the team has defused the IED recovered from Ghazipur Phool Mandi. Samples of the IED have been collected and the team will examine the chemical components used in making it and submit the report.
NSG officials said that the recovered IED weighed around three kg. NSG got information about this from Delhi Police around 11.00 am. The NSG defused this bomb at around 1.30 am. Forensic team was also present on this occasion.
Police received a call at 10.30 am
According to the information, there was a stir due to the discovery of an unclaimed bag in Ghazipur Phool Mandi of East Delhi and the first information was given to the police. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and evacuated the area around the bag. The bomb call was received at 10.30 am.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that after investigation, the IED explosive came out of the bag. The matter is being thoroughly investigated. The police have told that in this case the Delhi Police Special Cell has registered a case under the Explosives Act.
