Uttar Pradesh / Prayagraj : Fire broke out in apartment, 400 people were stuck breathing for two hours

A massive fire broke out in the Sangam Link apartment adjacent to the Baghambri Gaddi on Friday evening. A short circuit in the balcony of retired bank manager AK Dubey caused such a fire that the breath of about 400 people living in the apartment was stuck for about two hours. Everyone ran outside shouting for help. Firefighters who reached the spot brought the fire under control after a lot of efforts, but by then the goods worth lakhs had been reduced to ashes. The cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit in the inverter battery.

This apartment is five storeyed adjacent to Baghambri Math in Allapur

Adjacent to Baghambri Math is Sangam Link Apartments. It is five storeyed and about four hundred people live here. Retired bank manager AK Dubey lives with family on the fourth floor. At around 4 pm on Friday evening, he was sitting in the room with his wife, grandson and a woman working in the house. At that moment there was a loud sound in the balcony. When he ran, flames were rising there. Seeing this, he got scared and ran outside with his family, shouting for help. When the other people living in the apartment heard the noise, they also came out of the rooms and were horrified to see the fire. Within minutes the entire apartment was empty. Everyone gathered outside in the field. The Georgetown Police and Fire Department were informed.

By the time Chief Fire Officer RK Pandey along with firefighters reached the spot, the fire had assumed a formidable form. The flames had reached the house of Rohit Shukla, who lives on the fifth floor, just above AK Dubey’s room, due to which most of his house was also engulfed. Firefighters with the help of apartment dwellers brought the fire under control at around 6 pm, but by then the goods worth lakhs kept in AK Dubey’s rooms had been destroyed. There was a lot of damage in Rohit Shukla too. CFO RK Pandey says that AK Dubey had kept the inverter battery on the balcony. Trash was placed on top of it. Due to a short circuit in the battery, the garbage kept above caught fire, which took a big form in an instant.
