More lethal Omicron’s BA.2 strain found in UK!
Corona’s new variant Omicron is causing havoc all over the world. Omicron has three sub-lineage, or strains, BA.1, BA.2 and BA.3. Till now BA.1 strain was wreaking havoc in Britain. But now it is being said that the BA.2 strain has arrived in Britain too. The BA.2 strain is the most rapidly spreading variant of Omicron. According to the British newspaper Daily Express, recently the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has identified 53 sequences of Omicron in the UK. According to UKHSA, 53 cases of Omicron’s BA.2 strain have been reported in the UK.
However, the health agency has said that the symptoms of the fastest spreading Omicron variant are less severe. The UKHSA said, ‘We are confident that the severity of Omicron is less in adults. The UKHSA warns that the BA.2 strain has 53 sequences, which is highly contagious. It does not have any specific mutation, due to which it can be easily distinguished from the delta variant. A few days before this, this strain of Omicron was found in Israel. At the same time, according to The Times of Israel, 20 such cases have been identified in the country. According to the report, it is not yet proven whether the BA.2 strain is more dangerous than Omicron. However, it is being said in Britain that this strain is more infectious and more deadly.
Omicron’s BA.2 strain in many countries
According to the report, the BA.2 strain has reached many countries so far. Its variants have already been found in Denmark, Australia, Canada, China, India and Singapore. According to the World Health Organization, there are three strains or sublineages of Omicron variants – BA.1, BA.2 and BA.3. According to WHO, the spike proteins of BA.1 and BA.3 have 69 to 70 deletions, while BA.2 does not.
