China is trying to complete the illegal bridge on Pangong Lake soon, new pictures surfaced

Tension between India and China has been going on for a long time. Despite this, China does not seem to be deterring from its nefarious antics. China is building a bridge over Pangong Lake, whose length has now exceeded 400 m. The completion of the bridge will give China a significant military edge in the region, which has been a crucial point between India and China in eastern Ladakh.
This bridge is 8 meters wide. The bridge is located just south of the Chinese Army’s field base on the northern bank of Pangong, where Chinese army hospitals and soldiers were accommodated during the standoff between India and China in 2020.

Satellite images from January 16 indicate that Chinese construction workers have been working to attach the bridge’s pillars to the concrete slab with the help of a heavy crane, on which the asphalt will be laid. Looking at the speed of construction, it can be said that the bridge can be completed in a few months. However, ensuring road access to Rutog, China’s main military hub in the region, will take a long time.

The news of the bridge construction across Pangong was first reported by The Print earlier this month. For the first time, high resolution satellite images have shown that China’s new bridge over Pangong Lake will provide better logistics to the Chinese military in that area and give China the ability to quickly mobilize troops from any side of the lake.

Soldiers from the North Bank will no longer need to drive nearly 200 kilometers around Pangong Lake to reach their base at Rutog. This journey will now be reduced by about 150 km.

“Heavy machinery (cranes) have also been installed to speed up the manufacturing process, allowing work to continue in bad weather and snow,” said Damien Simon, GEOINT researcher at The Intel Lab. A new track has also been seen connecting the bridge to a road network near Khurnak Fort (northern bank of Pangong), which connects it with areas to the north through a well-maintained road for vehicular movement. ‘
