Uttar Pradesh : ‘I am ready to resign for son’s ticket’, BJP MP’s statement added to the problems of the party

Troubled by changing sides of big backward class leaders in the UP Assembly Elections 2022, now the infighting is coming to the fore in the BJP regarding the claims of the sons, daughters and relatives of the leaders on the seats. The statement of BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi is indicating the same. Joshi said on Monday, I have written a letter to BJP President JP Nadda. My son Mayank has been active in Lucknow Cantt for a long time and is working hard, he should get a ticket. If party gives ticket to Mayank, then he himself is ready to resign to follow the rules. But I am not going to go to any party. Was in BJP, am and will be. Actually, BJP has made a rule that ticket will be given to only one member from a family. On this, Rita Bahuguna Joshi has said that she will resign from the Lok Sabha so that her son Mayank can be given ticket from Lucknow Cantt.

Joshi, who had joined the BJP long back after leaving the Congress, said that she is seeking a ticket for her son in the UP assembly elections, but is not lobbying for it. Joshi, MP from Allahabad seat, was in Delhi and also met Dharmendra Pradhan, the in-charge of BJP in UP. He called it a polite meeting and said that it was a general discussion on issues related to the party.
These discussions are very fast that Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s son Mayank Joshi is contesting for the ticket from Lucknow Cantt seat. Rita Bahuguna had won from this seat in the 2017 assembly elections and later she was elected Lok Sabha MP from Allahabad. BJP leader Suresh Chandra Tiwari had won the Lucknow Cantt seat in the 2019 assembly by-election and defeated Samajwadi Party leader Aparna Yadav. Aparna Yadav is the younger daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Joshi said that his son is seeking BJP ticket, that is a different matter. She had come to discuss with Dharmendra Pradhan about the zonal issues of UP elections.
Joshi said, if the son is asking for party ticket then it is his right, but this issue has not been discussed today. Joshi also said, I am not inclined to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Actually I don’t want to contest any election. The BJP MP even said that she did not want to contest elections even in 2019, but if the party instructed, she obeyed. The party can decide the ticket based on Mayank’s background and political activism. Lucknow Cantt is one of the nine Vidhan Sabha seats in Lucknow district. There are a large number of Hindu Brahmin votes here. The election to this seat is to be held on February 23.
