Tiago CNG car launched at Rs 6.09 lakh

Tata Motors launched its CNG cars on Wednesday. The company has introduced its Tiago and Tigor models with iCNG technology. With this, Tata CNG Cars will now present a tough challenge to Maruti and Hyundai cars in the CNG segment.

Most Powered CNG Cars
Tata Motors claims that its CNG cars are the most power generating cars in the segment as most of the CNG cars are based on low power petrol engines. But the company has developed its iCNG technology on the 1.2 liter Revotron 3-cylinder engine. It generates 73.4 PS of max power and 95Nm of peak torque. Both the vehicles come with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Ground clearance also great
The company says that even though it has fitted the CNG kit in the boot space. But the ground clearance of both his cars is excellent. It measures 168mm in Tiago iCNG and 165mm for Tigor iCNG. It gives better control over the vehicle. At the same time, it gives good performance even on hilly and crooked roads like Western Ghats.

Tata Motors has given extra safety features in its CNG cars. In case there is any leakage of CNG in the vehicle, then the leak detection technology in it automatically shifts the vehicle from CNG to petrol mode. This technology also alerts the driver about gas leaks. A separate micro switch has been given to stop the vehicle immediately.

Apart from this, this vehicle does not start in case the fuel lid is open. Not only this, a special nozzle has been given in it, which makes refueling in the vehicle easier and faster. Not only this, the company’s iCNG technology makes switching between CNG and petrol easy. Not only this, it automatically shifts to petrol when the CNG is low, this helps the driver to travel long distances. Another special feature of this is that these vehicles start directly on CNG.

Not only this, if there is any incident of thermal accident in the car, it shuts off the CNG supply to avoid cylinder burst. At the same time, the gas remaining in the tube is released into the air. The car has a 35 liter petrol tank and 60 liter water capacity CNG cylinder.

Equipped with premium features
CNG cars are seen as economy cars in the market. Therefore, they lack many features or they are available only in the base model. Tata has given many premium features in its vehicles in this segment. These include LED DRL lights, projector headlamps, chrome finish, Harman touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from this, safety features like dual airbags, parking sensors are also included.

Tata has offered its CNG cars in a variety of colours. In this, Tiago iCNG will be available in 5 colors. These colors are Midnight Plum, Arizona Blue, Opal White, Flame Red and Daytona Grey. While the Tigor iCNG will also come in 5 colors which are Magnetic Red, Arizona Blue, Opal White, Daytona Gray and Deep Red.

Currently, the factory fitted CNG car is dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors in the Indian market. Now Tata’s CNG cars will give them a tough challenge. Maruti offers factory fitted CNG kits in S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Alto and Ertiga. While Hyundai’s Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai Aura come with options.
