Amar Jawan Jyoti burning for 50 years will be extinguished today

The Amar Jawan Jyoti, which has been burning for 50 years at the famous India Gate in the national capital, will be extinguished today. Now it will be merged with the flame burning at the National War Memorial. Let us tell you that this flame has been burning continuously for five decades. Today it will be merged with the burning flame at the National War Memorial, located about 400 meters from India Gate, under a program. This move has also been opposed by many people, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
What is the history of this Amar Jawan Jyoti
The Amar Jawan Jyoti is built at the India Gate in Delhi with a rifle gun standing on a marble surface and a soldier’s helmet hanging on it. Its history is 50 years old. Actually it was built in 1971 to pay tribute to the soldiers who died in the war with Pakistan. It was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Republic Day in 1972. Let us tell you that till 2006 it was kept burning with LPG cylinder. Then a pipeline was laid for the supply of natural gas.
This is the reason for carrying the National War Memorial
The National War Memorial of Delhi has been built on 40 acres near India Gate. Here in the history of independent India, the names of 26000 thousand soldiers who were martyred in different wars and incidents have been written. Let us tell you that it was inaugurated by PM Modi in February 2019. If sources are to be believed, because till now there was no place to pay homage to the martyrs, so Amar Jawan Jyoti was kept at India Gate. Now that the National War Memorial has been built, there is no problem in taking it there
Extinguishing Amar Jawan Jyoti means erasing history: Congress
The Congress on Friday alleged the merger of the Amar Jawan Jyoti flame with the flame burning at the National War Memorial, alleging that the move was like erasing the history of soldiers’ sacrifices.
Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) January 21, 2022
Former party president Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘It is very sad that the Amar Jyoti which used to burn for our brave soldiers will be extinguished today. Some people cannot understand patriotism and sacrifice – never mind…we will once again light the Amar Jawan Jyoti for our soldiers!’
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, ‘There is no respect for democratic tradition and established tradition in this government, whether in Parliament or outside. The purity achieved after 50 years of Amar Jawan Jyoti is being taken away lightly. So after 2014 everything has to be rediscovered?’
This government has no respect for democratic tradition & established convention, whether in parliament or out of it. The sanctity acquired after fifty years of the Amar Jawan Jyoti is being lightly snuffed out:https://t.co/d918XjfntF So everything must be reinvented post-2014?!

Congress leader Manish Tewari alleged, “extinguishing the Amar Jawan Jyoti is like erasing the history which symbolizes the sacrifice of 3,483 brave soldiers who split Pakistan in two and changed the map of South Asia.”
“It is very ironic that on the occasion of 50 years of Bangladesh Liberation War, the government seems to be trying to erase the best moment since independence,” he said.
“Whatever is being done is a national tragedy and an attempt to rewrite history,” Tiwari said. Merging Amar Jawan Jyoti in the war memorial torch means erasing history. BJP has built a National War Memorial, it does not mean that they can extinguish the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
The RSS in principle doesn't consider martyrdom as ideal but a fatal flaw. Here, excerpts from Golwalkar's "Bunch of Thoughts", which has now been taken down from their website.

Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The RSS considers martyrdom not an ideal in principle but a fatal flaw. Sharing an excerpt from Golwalkar’s Bunch of Thoughts, which has now been taken down from his website, which explains why the Modi government is extinguishing the Amar Jawan Jyoti today after half a century.
On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra tweeted, ‘Many types of wrong information are being circulated in the context of Amar Jawan Jyoti. The correct thing is that the flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti is not being extinguished. It is being mixed with the flame of the National War Memorial.
The names of all Indian martyrs from all the wars, including 1971 and wars before and after it are housed at the National War Memorial. Hence it is a true shraddhanjali to have the flame paying tribute to martyrs there. 3/n

He said, ‘The names of all Indian martyrs of all other wars including 1971 and the wars before and after are inscribed in the National War Memorial. That is why the presence of Jyoti, who pays tribute to the martyrs, is a true tribute.
Patra also said, ‘The irony is that those who did not build the National War Memorial for 7 decades, are now creating a ruckus for paying a lasting and proper tribute to our martyrs.’
