Uttarakhand : BJP adopted 1 family 1 ticket formula

There are 11 assembly seats stuck in the BJP, on which the names have not been finalized. Among these, Doiwala and Kotdwar assembly seats are prominent. There are discussions about betting on General Bipin Rawat’s brother Colonel Vijay Rawat (Seni) in both these seats. However, senior party leaders are ruling out the possibility. But there is a discussion in the party circles that the BJP can field Colonel Vijay Rawat, who joined the party after meeting the Chief Minister on Wednesday, to garner military votes. Here, many more contenders are also pushing for the Doiwala seat.

The party is yet to finalize the name of Kotdwar seat. Similarly, no decision has been taken on Kedarnath, Tehri, Piran Kaliyar, Jhabreda, Ranikhet, Jageshwar, Haldwani, Rudrapur and Lalkuan. Among them, Rajkumar Thukral is the MLA from Rudrapur and the clouds of trouble are hovering over his ticket. The party is also looking for a strong face in the Congress-occupied Piran Kaliyar, Ranikhet, Jageshwar, Kedarnath seats.

One family one ticket

BJP has appeared strict on the principle of one family one ticket. In some seats, the MLAs were looking forward to more than one ticket. The party gave tickets to the MLA’s son and wife, but cut the MLA’s ticket.
Before the announcement of tickets, former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat was also demanding two tickets for himself and his daughter-in-law. But the party did not accept his demand on the basis of the principle of one family one ticket. When Harak insisted, he was shown the way out. The result of the strict action taken on Harak was that the pressure of demanding tickets for himself and his relatives in the party was not visible far and wide. The party gave tickets to relatives of MLAs from Kashipur and Khanpur, but cut off the MLA’s ticket.
