Uttarakhand : BJP did not appear alert about women candidates! Ticket cut till the President of Mahila Morcha

The BJP, which is trying hard to return to power in Uttarakhand, seems to have lost faith in women’s power. In the list of 59 candidates released by the BJP for the assembly elections to be held on February 14 in the state, only 3.54 percent are women candidates. Not only this, BJP has cut the tickets of 3 women MLAs including its Mahila Morcha president. BJP has in a way ended ties with the Khanduri family by cutting the ticket of the MLA daughter of Major General (Retd.) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, who was a strong pillar of the BJP in Uttarakhand.
Only 6 women have been included in the list released for 59 out of 70 seats in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Not only this, the tickets of 3 sitting women MLAs have also been cut. The interesting thing is that the state president of the party’s Mahila Morcha, Ritu Khanduri had to try to get more and more women tickets, her own ticket was cut. Ritu Khanduri is a BJP MLA from Yamkeshwar seat in Pauri district. Apart from this, BJP also cut the tickets of two women MLAs of Dalit society, Munni Devi and Meena Gangola. Munni Devi was contested to take advantage of the sympathy wave after the death of Tharali MLA Magan Lal, in which she was victorious, but now after the work is over, she is separated like a milk bee and replaced by Bhopal Ram Tamta. Gave ticket to Similarly, instead of Meena Gangola, the male candidate Fakir Ram Tamta was given ticket.
BJP has cut the ticket of its Mahila Morcha president, but Congress state president Sarita Arya has been given ticket by rebelling against the party. Sarita Arya had left the Congress party only a few days ago due to the fear of being cut, while the Congress has not even released the list yet. The women who have been included in the first list of candidates by BJP are Savita Kapoor from Dehradun Cantt, Rekha Arya from Someshwar, Sarita Arya from Nainital, Kunvarani Devyani from Khanpur, Renu Bisht from Yamkeshwar and Chandra Pant from Pithoragarh.
Savita Kapoor is the wife of late MLA Harbansh Kapoor and Chandra Pant is the wife of cabinet minister Prakash Pant. The ticket of well-known MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion has been cut due to his antics. But if he does not revolt and go with the rebel Harak Singh Rawat, his wife Devyani has been given a ticket instead.
Like Uttar Pradesh, the fear of stampede is clearly visible in the BJP’s list released on Thursday. The anti-incumbency factor is so strong in the state that till now about 60 percent MLAs have been losing. The more MLAs a party has, the more it loses. That is why it was being expressed that the BJP will cut the tickets of at least 25 MLAs, but after Uttar Pradesh, in Uttarakhand too, BJP is taking a step by step with the fear of stampede. This is the reason that after the Harak Singh Rawat episode, those MLAs who had joined the BJP during the 2016 Congress rebellion have not been teased. Of these, Shailendra Mohan Singhal was also given ticket from Jaspur when he lost the election in 2017.
Despite taking precaution in distributing tickets, many circles have started showing rebellious attitude in BJP. Jagbir Singh Bhandari, an angry leader from Yamunotri seat, has announced to contest as an independent. Similarly, Tika Prasad Maikhuri, former block chief Magan Singh Bisht in Dev Prayag seat, former BJYM secretary Suraj Ghildiyal from Srinagar seat, Balbir Ghunyal from Tharali, Darshan Lal from Ghansali seat and Mahavir Rangad revolted from Dhanaulti seat due to non-receipt of ticket for Karnprayag seat. Is done. Most of them have declared to contest as independents against the official candidates of BJP.
