Uttarakhand : Broken hopes due to ticket cut in BJP, voice raised against familyism

The displeasure of the claimants and their supporters in the BJP is not taking the name of stopping due to the ticket being cut and the ticket breaking. There has also been open displeasure in Dehradun Cantt, Kashipur assembly seat in protest against giving tickets to family members. In some seats, angry claimants have even threatened to contest as independents. The discontent of workers and supporters has reached the BJP headquarters. On Saturday, the office bearers of Mahila Morcha asked State General Secretary Organization Ajey Kumar why the party cut the ticket of state president Ritu Khanduri. He urged the organization to reconsider the decision.
Meanwhile, two-time party MLA from Rudrapur Rajkumar Thukral also reached the capital. The candidate for his seat has not been announced yet. Discussions about Thukral’s ticket being cut this time are hot in BJP circles. The reason for this is believed to be a video clip of an alleged controversial statement, which has been conveyed to the central leaders. Thukral first met State Organization General Secretary Ajay Kumar at the party headquarters on Saturday. He also met MP Naresh Bansal. Later, he also knocked on the door of state election in-charge Prahlad Joshi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and requested not to cut tickets. According to Thukral, I have made a humble request to all senior leaders not to cut my ticket. The rest of the party has to decide. But whatever is being said about me is completely false and baseless.
Mahila Morcha officer returned with confidence
On Saturday, a delegation of front office bearers led by State General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha Anu Kakkar reached the state party office. He met State Organization General Secretary Ajay Kumar. He said that Mahila Morcha and all the members of Uttarakhand state are hurt by not giving ticket to the state president Ritu Khanduri. The President of the Morcha is continuously completing her tasks diligently. He requested the organization to reconsider the decision. The state general secretary organization assured that whatever decision will be taken in future will be for their interest and the organization is equally concerned for them. State Mahila Morcha Vice President Anuradha Walia, State Vice President Kanchan Thakur, State Minister Bhavna Sharma, Babita Sahotra, Nandini Sharma were present.
Front opened against familism
The BJP strictly enforced the principle of one family one ticket in allotment of tickets, but it could not escape from familism. The party has given ticket to Trilok Singh Cheema, son of MLA Harbhajan Singh Cheema in Kashipur. The displeasure of party officials and workers has come to the fore in this seat.
For the Dehradun Cantt seat, the party fielded Savita Kapoor, wife of late Harbans Kapoor, an MLA. Some claimants have come out openly against this decision. Apart from this, many party workers are also uncomfortable with the ticket given to Kunwarani Devyani, wife of MLA Kunwar Pranav Champion. In Jhabreda, MLA Deshraj Karnwal is advocating for making his wife the candidate for fear of getting ticket. But the camp that came against him is pressurizing the party not to promote familyism.
There are no resentments. All are family members. They know that only one person can get the ticket. We sincerely hope that he will accept the decision of the central leadership and play an active role in making BJP victorious in the elections.
Suresh Joshi, State Spokesperson, BJP
