Shoaib Akhtar said – Virat Kohli had to get married after scoring 120 centuries, should not have become captain

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar recently gave his opinion on Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from the captaincy. He had said that there were many people against him, due to which he was forced to give up the captaincy. Once again Shoaib Akhtar is in discussion due to the statement given about Kohli. He has said that if he had been in Virat Kohli’s place, he would not have married. Because he likes to focus on his cricket.

Akhtar told ANI, “I don’t know what is right, what is wrong. That’s all done, now what matters is how to proceed from here. Kohli has the bat, he doesn’t want to be dropped from the team. There will be pressure on them to perform. I wanted him to score 120 hundreds and not become captain and I didn’t want him to get married.

Had I been in India and had been a fast bowler, I would not have got married. I would focus on my cricket, that’s my thinking. It was Kohli’s personal decision. If you had asked me, I would have focused on my cricket.”

Akhtar also said that Virat Kohli was forced to step down from India’s captaincy. Last year, Kohli stepped down as the T20I captain and was then dropped from the ODI captaincy after the selectors wanted a captain for the limited-overs team. Kohli then stepped down as India’s Test captain after leading the team for seven years.

Shoaib Akhtar feels that Kohli may be upset with the recent developments. But he should focus his temper on doing well with the bat. He said that Kohli needs to understand that he is a great player of the game and he is capable of scoring 50 more hundreds at the international level.

Akhtar said, “It was a tough scenario for Virat. I was in Dubai and I knew that if he doesn’t win the T20 World Cup, it will become a big problem for him and it happened. There are lobbies against him and they are against him. There are people against it and that’s why he left the post.
