Aam Aadmi Party candidate Joginder Singh has tried to commit suicide in Muzaffarnagar in connection with the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. In fact, the nomination of Joginder Singh has been rejected. Frustrated by this, he poured kerosene on himself in the collectorate and tried to commit suicide. At present, the policemen present there stopped them from doing so.

Joginder Singh is a former Major Subedar of the Army. He has entered politics by opting for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). The 58-year-old AAP leader had filed his nomination papers on January 20. Where the Returning Officer of Meerapur Jayendra Kumar rejected only one nomination paper out of 26 nomination papers.

It was done intentionally: Joginder Singh says that it was done intentionally. The mistake which was in my nomination was not even given time to rectify it. I made repeated requests about this but the returning officer did not listen to me. He alleged that the local administration was working under pressure from the ruling party and such dictatorship would not be tolerated.

Repeated mistake: In this case, District Magistrate Chandra Bhushan Singh told a newspaper that in the first affidavit, it was the mistake of the AAP candidate. They were informed about this and asked to give correct information. But in his second paper also he repeated more mistakes, due to which his document was declared invalid. Significantly, seven phases of assembly elections are to be held in UP. In which polling will be held in Meerapur and 57 other seats for the first phase on February 10.
